It's the official course: the one every runner on that day was meant to follow, from the start line to the finish. We check it against public map data street by street, and a race only goes on sale when every check passes. Your watch's track will wobble a little where GPS does; this doesn't. If you want your watch's own line instead, that's Your Route.

Same course, same name, same time, same price: only the light changes. Night Flight draws your route in light over the city at night, and comes alive in warm rooms, under lamps and on darker walls. Morning Mist is the same course at sunrise, the sun low in rolling mist and your route bright orange across it, and suits bright rooms, white walls and daylight. Not sure? Think of the wall it's going on, and choose the one that fits the room.

Yes. The preview is drawn from the same file we print, so the line, the names, the time and the words land exactly where you see them. The one difference is the light: a screen glows, paper doesn't. Night Flight reads a touch deeper on the wall, Morning Mist a touch softer. Both are made to print that way.

Scroll to "Sizes, to scale" on any race page: each one is shown on a wall at its real size, so you can picture it above a sofa or down a hallway. Every size is the same artwork, simply bigger.

An optional line of your own, up to 40 characters, set in italics beneath your time. "Sub-4. Finally." "For Dad." "Never again (until next year)." Leave it blank and the piece is just as complete.

No, and we'd rather you knew. MONUMENT is independent, not affiliated with any race. That's also why we do the checking ourselves: every course is drawn from the official route and verified street by street before it goes on sale.

Yes, and plenty of runners do it as a promise to themselves. Tick "Haven't run it yet". The morning after race day we email you for your time, and we make it the moment you reply.

Email us the moment you notice. Until your piece goes to print, within one working day, we can change anything at no cost. After that it's made, so read your name, time and date once more before you order: we print exactly what you type.

Checkout is run by Shopify, so your card details go straight to them and never to us. You can review everything before you pay.

Within 6 working days, mainland UK. We check every order by hand and send it to print within one working day; it's printed, framed and at your door within five more. The Highlands and Islands and Northern Ireland can take a day or two longer. For Christmas, order by 14 December.

UK delivery is free. For anywhere else, checkout shows whether we can deliver to you, what it costs and how long it takes, before you pay.

If it's been more than 10 working days, email info@bymonument.com with your order number. We'll trace it, and if it's lost we remake it at no cost.

Yes. Put their address at checkout and it goes straight to their door. The order emails and tracking come to you, so the surprise stays a surprise.

Nearly every race publishes every finisher's time online. Search the race name and "results", type their surname, and it's there to the second. It takes about a minute, and they'll never know you looked. If you'd rather not, give a gift card and let them add it.

You can add a line of your own to the piece itself: up to 40 characters, set in italics beneath their time. Short is strongest. "So proud of you." "Mile 20. You didn't stop." "For Mum."

Give a gift card. They choose the race, or bring their own run from their watch, and add their name and time themselves. Gift cards arrive by email, so it works even on the day itself.

Tell us within 30 days of delivery. Send it back and we refund you in full. If it arrives damaged, or isn't what you ordered, we remake it free and you don't need to send anything back: a couple of photos is enough.

Yes, until it goes to print, within one working day of your order. After that it has been made for one person, so the 30-day promise is the way back.
